Literacy Tip:

​Children develop topics of interest at a very young age.  Think about how many times your child has asked to repeat a story or watch a movie.  Repetition is an important learning tool! (Though, admittedly, it can be a challenge to read a book over and over and over again!)  Reading stories about talents or abilities can be a great spark for developing interests to be explored.  In storytime this week, we read a book about an artist, one that lives deep in the ocean at that!  As a follow up, we gave the children a framed piece of cardstock and asked them to be an artist.  The results were amazing and there was definitely a sense of pride in the room!  Maybe one day we’ll see your child’s work in a museum!!

Collage Art

The children were given a piece of cardstock with a framed outline.  A variety of materials were provided along with glue sticks.  The children were encouraged to create their own masterpieces and photos were taken of each child with a mustache prop just like the octopus in our story, I'm The Best Artist in the Ocean!
